Recognition of professional qualifications
Recognition of University Degrees
If you studied a university degree of 4 to 5 years, we advise you throughout the recognition process to practice your profession in Germany.
Regulated Professions
For regulated professions, the professional title is specially protected. If you studied a regulated profession, you will need to carry out its recognition of qualifications (homologation) in Germany to be able to practice your profession. Regulated professions in Germany include, among others, doctors and the entire healthcare sector, teachers, and more. What happens if your qualification is not fully recognized? In this case, the competent body will establish a compensatory measure with which you can compensate for the fundamental differences. If you successfully complete the compensatory measure, the equivalence will be declared.
Non-Regulated Professions
If you studied a non-regulated profession in a country that is not a member of the European Union, a requirement for applying for an employment visa in Germany or a job seeker visa is the recognition of your academic qualifications in Germany.
Our advisory service includes:
- Assessment of the professional's situation in an initial interview. We will take into account their professional focus to carry out their recognition of qualifications (homologation) and we will clarify their doubts about the process and job opportunities, and we will send them a list of all the necessary documents.
- We collect and review your documents before they are submitted to the German authority in charge of your recognition process.
- Certified Translations (Sworn Translations): We have sworn translators to translate the documents that require it. The costs for certified translations depend on the quantity of documents to be translated.
- Translation of your curriculum vitae, adaptation to a German format, and creation of your complete application portfolio. With your professional profile, you will be able to successfully enter the German labor market.

Frequently Asked Questions
The recognition of your professional qualifications means that your foreign qualifications are comparable to a German profession. For example, if you have a career as an electronics technician, your acquired capabilities and knowledge will be comparable to those who obtain the title of Elektrotechniker in Germany.
They are also called regulated professions, where professionals must have certain specific or technical qualifications to practice the profession in Germany. For example, Doctors, Teachers, or Architects. If you obtain a partial recognition of your qualifications but must compensate for technical, practical, and linguistic deficiencies to achieve your approval, then you can apply for a residence permit to finalize your recognition as part of a qualification measure or Qualifizierungsmaßnahme. For this, you generally need A2 German knowledge and the ability to finance your stay in Germany.
